ASL Storm Louvers

Architectural Storm Louver [ASL-12] Testing
Miami-Dade County, Florida / Acceptance No. 98-1015.07

Passed on the First try...

The revolutionary new ASL-12 Hurricane Louver has been designed and tested to the strict Dade County, Florida, code for hurricane capability. The louver has not only passed the PA-100A standard, but has been proven to be 100% efficient in rainfall rates of 30" per hour and winds of 110 mph! The ASL series can handle the most extreme weather conditions on the planet!

Wind driven sand creates an entirely different problem from wind driven rain. The ASL-8 was designed to capture sand particles and remove them without the need for bleed fans to eliminate the collected sand. The ASL-8 is 96% efficient at free area velocities three to four times higher than other sand elimination products. Higher efficiencies and higher free area velocities mean smaller banks of sand louvers.

ASL Handler
  ASL Handler

Air handler manufacturers are finding that the ASL-4 and ASL-6 series can eliminate water carryover from wind driven rain and even heavy fog. Because the free area velocity through the louver can be increased dramatically, up to 4,000 fpm, without significant pressure drop penalties, intake louver sizes are greatly reduced. The reduction of intake louvers coupled with the removal of water carryover, has given these OEM customers a competitive edge.

Indoor air quality is an important consideration in many designs for conditioned space. In the hospital industry, the ASL series of louvers helps prevent microbial and fungal growth in air handlers and ventilation systems by preventing water from entering the system. The removal of the breeding ground, unwanted moisture, helps the hospital keep air borne contaminants to a minimum.

The patented louver assembly is 99.9% effective at removing wind driven rain and fog particles.

[1] The vertical chevron blade and hook provide maximum resistance. [2] As the air passes easily over the curve of the blade, the hook
[3] captures the particulate, and gravity carries the particles into the drain pan and out of the louver.
